My Papa passed away on Thursday. I sat at the funeral home and helped write his obituary yesterday. I realized there was so much more to say. Obituaries are great for the paper but they don’t really tell the story. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can either. I can't write a tribute to a man that so many knew better than I did. I can't tell stories about a guy that so many have heard told by the best.
Richard Degnan was the name everyone else knows him by. He was a cowboy. I don’t have to use any other words because cowboy means so much. He was everything a cowboy means. I am not talking about the dictionary term. I am talking about the way of life use of "cowboy".
He appreciated at lot of things in life but a good looking horse and a good looking girl were at the top of the list. He had some of the best looking horses and one of the best looking girls. He liked her so much; he kept her around for fifty-six years.
We are all so sad but we know he is right where he should be. We know he will watch us and really enjoy us enjoying ourselves. He was always proud of the good time his family could have.
I know I am going to read over this and wish I had done this post differently. There are so many pictures and so many stories that I should share. This is what I have for today.
